Ugly Mug in Cape May

Had a great experience at the ugly mug. Lobsters were good ,served with fries and salad. Rich variety of draft beer. Definitely recommend the sandwiches tho ! They offer outside dining or take out all night .

First time in 25 years I decided to try this place and was I EVER extremely disappointed. Credit card charged twice because register tape was installed incorrectly. Tried to blame the chaos of covid, but covid causes respiratory problems, not incompetence. Told to speak with manager to have it rectified, but amazingly she was never available to speak with me. Had to waste time on vacation dealing with the credit card company. To add insult to injury, the take out order was wrong. Recommend this place only if you want to waste your time on vacation dealing with and correcting mistakes based on the incompetence of others.

The food was okay and the cocktails are regular. You will be better off ordering a beer instead of a cocktail from here. Pleasant workers and nice view if you are seated outside. Some seagulls flying around for some food but they are not looking to jump on your table unless provoked.

It's a bar with much outdoor seating. The service can sometimes be spotty, on hot days the beer may not be as cold as you would like. The food is okay, but not spectacular. The menu has plenty of selections.

This restaurant has a lot of history and has mugs hanging from the ceilings dating way back however the food is below average. I stopped by with my boyfriend after a long car ride and ordered nachos with guacamole. The guacamole was not fresh made and was squirted on as if out of a bag. The chips were awful & honestly reminded me of lunchables. My fish sandwich was good however overall my least favorite restaurant in Cape May.

Food was very good, waiter was extremely nice. Food came quick. I asked about purchasing t shirts and the waiter asked the host and they took us inside to buy t shirts. I bought 2 shirts and my wife had gone to the restroom, so I stood by the counter where shirts were sold waiting only about 2 minutes for her and an employee I hadn't seen the whole time we were there comes out of the back and rudely tells me to go outside so I said I'm just waiting on my wife and being even more rude tells me She (my wife) will meet me outside. I just spent $106.00 in there and he had the nerve. Doubt we ever go back. This was today, Sunday the 26th of July around 3:00ish.

I was disappointed with this visit. The service was fast but the food was very poor. My tables food was dry barely warm when it arrived at out table. That was very surprising since the food came so fast.My burger was overcooked when I asked for medium rare. That will be the last time this season we will visit, better luck next year!

Good food with a great location in the heart of historic Cape May. Enjoy outdoor dining with a good drink on Washington Street. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, baskets of fries since orders only come with bag of chips, chicken quesadillas, veggie burger with cheddar cheese and a blue Hawaiian. The food was good and the veggie rated the best from our order. The indoor area was more of a bar scene and appeared to be a good place for locals and tourists to hang out.

The Ugly Mug was probably the worst meal we had while visiting Cape May. The host walked off without us after our name was called and we had to go find the table ourselves after someone pointed to the general area. The waitress could not answer basic questions about the menu. When we asked the server what she liked on the menu, she just told us to look at the specials menu. I tried a Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was not great. I couldn't finish it because it just didn't taste good. My wife tried a wrap and said it was soggy and also did not finish it. The icing on the cake was the gross bathroom. Overall it was a very disappointing meal out. I would not go back.

Excellent service, waitresses are beyond nice! Dog friendly, great food best burgers in all of cape may. If your not a meat eater they even made off menu items for our daughter.

Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the fried flounder wrap with sweet potato fries and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Definitely recommend!

Ordered the Italian Stallion Burger (requested no-bun, with extra lettuce) and a side-house salad. Very tasty! The burger went well with the Italian meats and peppers underneath the melted cheese. The ingredients were fresh! Good price and portion size.

New reality, great food and service.Ordered take out, ready in 20 minutes, and our order for three was perfect and delicious. All condiments, etc. were graciously included. Staff great at social distancing, but some customers could take a lesson on that.

I’m not one to write reviews but my meal was god awful and WAY overpriced. I ended up throwing it out after a few bites as I did try to give it an honest attempt. I ordered the New York Strip Steak with rice and asparagus as a take out order for my last night here in Cape May. I read the reviews and the place seemed to be popular. I requested for my steak to be well done but it was BURNT and rubbery. As for the rice, it tasted really old or overcooked, it was extremely dry and tasteless. The only good item in the meal was the steam veggie. Sorry but for $30 bucks plus taxes, Com’on!

Solid offering in downtown Cape May. Washington Street Mall is right there, so there is a ton of activity along the sidewalk. We sat outside and enjoyed the people watching. The food was solid (friend flounder sandwich and the shrimp salad). It was a nice way to start our long weekend in Cape May.

Good but a bit pricey for what they are... great lobster roll... well worth the price on that

Can't not stop at an Irish bar. This is one of our favorites. Fast service, great food and drinks, Isabella is an awesome server

The food is ALWAYS absolutely amazing, no matter when you go. Wait staff is consistently polite and pleasant. A little pricey, but understandably for the quality of the food and great atmosphere. With the current global climate, I felt very safe sitting outside. All diners were seated 6ft+ apart and staff wore masks. Have eaten here several times and will keep coming back!

Cool atmosphere. Good service. I tried the chicken salad and sweet potato fries. Both good!

We've visited here every time we've been in Cape May. So conveniently located in the center of the shopping district. Burgers are really good.Megan, our server, was efficient, attentive and very friendly

Dined here July 2020, and was pretty disappointed. Ordered the Vanilla Yogurt with Fruit, which came with all fruit that was not fresh. Order a lobster roll after, which was way below average. Bar had limited options on things (even simple things like Seltzer). Service was okay, staff was polite, but the energy of this place was super low, even on a nice sunny day. Sorry Ugly Mug, will update the review next times we visit!

This place is awesome! The food is great the service is great its a great spot to go with the family.

Was walking by and decided to give this place a chance. We were extremely happy with that decision.. staff was very kind and helpful even though it was pretty busy. Comfortable place with very good foods to pick at. Those Caribbean jerk turkey wings were phenomenal! I will definitely be returning! Thanks!

Best crab cake I ever had. Family all ordered different entrees and they were great. Pleasant outdoor dining in COVID era. Nice, respectful wait staff.

Ordered Roast beef sandwich to go with gravy on side. The roast beef was over cooked and tough. The gravy on the side was cold. It was also supposed to have american cheese on it instead it had globs of canned American cheese which I had to spoon off. Terrible. There are better places. Will not come back.

Crazy good lobster rolls! Lots of outdoor seating in the shade. The staff was extremely attentive, picking up empty plates as we finished. Our kids had the pizza which had thin crust but yummy. I wish I took pictures of the food, plates had lots of food on them. Definitely stop for lunch or dinner if you can.
